How much is an aircon chemical wash in Penang?
Wall mounted units are RM130 each. Cassette and ducted units are priced once we've seen a photo, because dropping a ceiling panel and cleaning in place is a bigger job than a wall unit.
What's the difference between a chemical wash and a normal service?
A service cleans the surfaces. A chemical wash takes the unit apart and puts chemical through the coil and blower, which is the only thing that shifts what's grown inside them. If your unit smells, a service won't fix it.
How often does an aircon need a chemical wash?
Once a year for most homes in Penang. Sooner if it smells, if there's black dust around the vent, or if it sits in a kitchen or close to the coast.
Will it get rid of the smell?
That's the job. The smell lives on the blower wheel and the coil, and chemical is what clears it. You'll know before we leave.
Is it messy?
No. A wash bag hangs under the unit and catches everything. The water goes into a bucket and the bucket goes out with us.
Can you wash a cassette or ducted unit?
Yes. Send a photo of the ceiling unit and we'll price it. It takes longer because the panel has to come down and the drain pump gets cleaned out too.
How long does it take?
About 90 minutes for one wall mounted unit. Ceiling units take longer and we'll tell you how long when we price it.
